How firm is the Plank Firm Luxe?

On a scale of 1 to 10, the firm side of the Plank Firm Luxe mattress ranges between 7.5-8. This ranking is deemed a traditional firm mattress. The ultra-firm side ranges between 9.5-10—meaning it’s one of the firmest, flattest sleep surfaces on the market but features more contouring than the original Plank Firm version.

What are the cooling features available for the Plank Firm Luxe?

First, the Plank Firm Luxe features a breathable quilted top on either side of the mattress, coupled with open cell technology throughout the foam layers, to help ensure a neutral temperature environment. Second, the Plank Firm Luxe mattress is constructed with individually encased coils, which allow for greater airflow.

For even greater temperature moderation, a GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover can be sewn into the Plank Firm Luxe mattress as an optional feature—just look for the "Add Glaciotex™ Cooling Cover” option on the right side of the product page when making your selection. Once you add this feature to your mattress, the cooling top panel will be sewn into the surface of the mattress to deliver ultimate cooling on contact.

The GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover is an optional feature that does not impact the comfort, firmness level, or support of the Plank Firm Luxe mattress.

What type of foundation works best for this mattress?

Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are designed to be used on foundations with solid support with minimal to no flex. This includes slatted wood or metal foundations with slats no more than 5" apart, wood or metal box foundations, and solid wood or metal platforms. If you need a foundation for your new mattress, check out our foundations specifically designed for Brooklyn Bedding mattresses here.

How does the 365-night trial period work?

If during your 365-night sleep trial (which begins once you receive your new mattress), you decide that you are not completely happy with your mattress and wish to return it, we will help dispose of your mattress and help you begin your return. 

Please allow 30 days to lapse from the date of delivery before beginning the return process.

Customers are able to make use of this 365-night comfort trial on one occasion. The second occasion is not eligible for a return.

We do our very best to donate, recycle, or otherwise repurpose all returned mattresses.

The Plank Firm by Brooklyn Bedding is an all-foam mattress—and the firmest sleep experience on the market. (Next level firmness could only be achieved by eliminating the mattress altogether and sleeping directly on the floor.) Meanwhile, the Plank Firm Luxe by Brooklyn Bedding is constructed with added foam layers and individually encased coils to deliver greater pressure point relief and responsiveness. Both mattresses are flippable, which allows you to choose between a firm and extra-firm side. Many customers with a sleep partner do opt for the Plank Firm Luxe to ensure a more comfortable sleep experience for both individuals.

The mattress has been excellent.

"The mattress has been excellent. The only problem I had is with the delivery. I live in an apartment complex on the second floor. The box was delivered on the first floor at the opposite end of the building. I had to drag the box up a flight of stairs then drag it across the causeway to my apartment while it was raining. Since it was raining on a Sunday evening, I had not time to borrow a hand truck. I have no idea how or why anyone would think this type of delivery is acceptable."

The dual firmness option was key

"I have a bad lower back and have to find the "just right" mattress to keep it happy. I prefer firm mattresses but need a little give on the top to mostly stomach sleep. I tried the firm side on the first night and found it way too firm. I tried the medium-firm side on the second night and found it almost perfect, but still a little unforgiving. I added a 2" foam topper to the medium-firm side and am now perfectly dialed in for my back. So far, with the inexpensive addition, the best mattress I've owned."

I really regret purchasing this

"I really regret purchasing this bed and base. The massage on the base only vibrates my head or feet. I needed my back and hip massaged! The mattress feels uneven and uncomfortable. I can only use the zero gravity for short periods because my primary sleeping position is my stomach. The lift mechanism on the base is very loud so in the middle of the night when I need to change positions it is quite noisy and disruptive to the family."
